I was surprised to learn that the city of Overland Park will be receiving a total of $27M from the American Care Rescue Plan and that it is proposed to spend it on "bike trails and planting trees"! Really? What does this have to do with providing Covid relief or remedies for the residents?
I would hope such monies would be spent on issues such as improved air filtration systems in public buildings or other health related items that would be long term preventative.
How about monies to displace all those businesses harmed by the government's draconian measures that were NOT based on good science?
So why did the City increase our property tax mill levy for the additional $3M in Police Dept budget for mental health measures when all this money was coming in?
